Review: "Oliver and the Seawigs" by Philip Reeve, Sarah McIntyre (Illustrator)

Synopsis:
Oliver grew up in a family of explorers - but his biggest adventure is about to begin!

Along with his new friends, a grumpy old albatross, a short-sighted mermaid and a friendly island called Cliff, Oliver goes off in search of his missing parents. But before he can put his rescue plan into action there's the evil Stacey de Lacey and an army of greasy, green sea monkeys to contend with . . .

My Review:

I haven't picked up and read a children's book since I was in elementary school, but it turned out to be an endearingly cute story full of adventure.  The concept was very imaginative; I enjoyed the interesting twist about islands.  Illustrations were well done and comic book like.  It was a fairly light read and very fun.  I honestly wish this book was around when I was a kid.
