Review: "Poison Promise" (Elemental Assassin #11) by Jennifer Estep

Synopsis:
In book eleven of her New York Times bestselling Elemental Assassin series, author Jennifer Estep continues “one of the best urban fantasy series going on the market” (Fresh Fiction).

Gin Blanco is hard-nosed, sexy, and lethal. Nicknamed “The Spider,” she’s a stone elemental assassin who brings her unique mix of magic and tact to every assignment, no matter the target.

There’s a new drug on the streets of Ashland, and its name “Burn” sums up the potent effect it has on its users. When one of her restaurant employees is threatened by dealers of the drug, Gin steps in to set things straight…

My Review:

What I love most about the Elemental Assassin series is that you never feel lost if you haven't read the very first book. Although I recommend that you do, as this is one of my favorite paranormal series.

In the last few books, Gin has only wanted to be left alone in Ashland; probably because she's been doing pro bono work as an assassin.  But the criminal underworld has been a power vacuum as of late, and every criminal wants to prove their salt by offing Gin aka "The Spider".  The "old" Gin Blanco is back in Poison Promise, and she reminds us readers as to why we fell in love with her tough-as-nails character in the first book.  However, it did take her sister Bria to snap her into action.

The story was great and the cliffhanger at the end rendered me speechless.  And in true Gin Blanco style, there was plenty of witty banter and "no holds barred" action.  I've always favored a strong female lead, and Gin is no exception with her fearlessness and protectiveness of her friends and family.  Owen was absolutely swoon-worthy as always, and the ever-so-dapper Finnegan Lane never ceased to make me laugh. All in all, it is a very well done book.

Favorite Quotes:
"You have reached the always awesome, ever charming, and obscenely handsome Finnegan Lane," he chirped in my ear. "How may I be of service to you today?"

"Well," he said, "I thought we would stay in and have a quiet evening. You, me a nice dinner, perhaps some quality time watching
TV in my bedroom."
"Watching TV? Really?"
"Well, if you absolutely insist, we can skip the TV-viewing portion of the evening,"
